Being at the cusp of adulthood is probably one of the toughest phases of our lives. More often than not, we are posed with enquiries about our future plans. It’s not surprising that many of us get through each day, rummaging through past decisions, mistakes, regrets, heartbreaks and doubtful moments, that we forget to look forward to see what’s lying ahead.
Did that sound like the start of a really motivational piece of literature? Well, read that again! Because honey, if you were able to read this through, relate to it, and had an idea of what to expect next, you are definitely privileged.
Now, I don’t intend to preach about how irresponsible you are or irrelevant you are to the society. Because I am just as bad (or good?).
On a larger landscape though, each one of us are fighting our own battles. Some of us are closeted, struggling to come out to close ones and family. Some are fighting through unhealthy mental situations which are still a stigma to many of us, making things tougher. Somewhere someone you know is probably stressed, thinking about what movie to watch next. Well, you’d never know. I would be an unempathetic fool to think that life is simple for anyone who’s reading this piece. Each internal conflict that happens in mind is just like any civil war that you’ve read about in history books and newspapers.
So that brings us to the question, what do we pay more heed to? The dilemma that we ourselves are going through in life, or the constant voice in us that yearns to do something for the society, for greater good?
